What is a unit of measure (UOM)?
A unit of measure (UOM) defines how a product is counted, sold, or priced — for example each, box, carton, kilogram, litre, or metre. It removes ambiguity about what "1" of an item actually means.
Why UOM matters
"5 cement" is meaningless — 5 bags? 5 tonnes? The UOM makes every line unambiguous, which prevents pricing and fulfilment errors and keeps invoices clear for the customer.
UOM on documents
A good system carries the UOM onto every quote, order, and invoice line, defaulting from the product master but allowing an override per line where a deal needs it.
In VynSales
Every line item carries a unit of measure that auto-fills from the product when you pick it, and you can override it per line. This works consistently across quotations, orders, invoices, and credit notes — on both web and the mobile app.
